ABOUT

MOVING FORWARD

Although the Exploration Spaceport master plan is still in draft form, it is believed that the vision for the spaceport will provide unique opportunities for diverse aerospace commercial growth and unparalleled customer experiences; land development that creates a fiscally sustainable TCAA business model; business partnerships within the Central Florida region; and a destination for national and international aerospace research, testing, assembly, and potential launches.

In order to achieve the vision, a number of guiding principles will need to be identified. These could include, but not be limited to:

o    Developing Exploration Spaceport at Space Coast Regional Airport as a national and international aerospace destination
o    Providing continuity between the Airport master plans and the Spaceport master plans
o    Connecting Exploration Spaceport to regional multi-modal hubs, including air, rail, sea, and KSC launch sites
o    Leveraging land development for aerospace testing and horizontal launch and landing activities
o    Planning for flexibility and growth to accommodate evolving systems, technical facilities, and emerging technology
o    Developing flexible, multi-user facilities and resilient infrastructure
o    Creating a campus environment that attracts new talent and retains the current diverse human capital and quality aerospace tenants

A significant aspect of the success of Exploration Spaceport will involve ensuring that the Space Coast Regional Airport’s current and future potential tenants and clients remain in the forefront when designing and developing the Spaceport territory. Such practices include:

o    Returning all existing properties to their highest and best use, as well as ensuring that the potential of all new properties and facilities is maximized in order to foster operational excellence
o    Capitalize on the proximity to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and its pre-existing space-related infrastructure
o    Garner opportunities to publicize the quality of life on the Space Coast, which includes countless recreational opportunities, convenient access to Orlando and all of its legendary theme parks and attractions, pristine beaches, and temperate climate
o    Providing new tenants and also existing tenants with exceptional customer service and assistance when required
o    Facilitating P3s (public/private partnerships) where both the public sector and the private sector are invested in the development of property and all parties contribute to the end product

Exploration Spaceport is owned by and operated under the expertise of the Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority (Authority). A three-airport and one-spaceport system, the Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors that are appointed by the Brevard County Board of Commissioners and the City of Titusville City Council. Airports include Space Coast Regional Airport (TIX) and Arthur Dunn Airpark (X21), both of which are located in Titusville, as well as Merritt Island Airport (COI), which is situated in unincorporated Brevard County.
