SPACEPORT PROPERTY
PENDING DEVELOPMENT
With only 14 spaceports located in the United States, six of which are in Florida, each one has the opportunity to find its niche for partnering with and providing assistance to the commercial space industry. The vision of some governing entities is to ensure that multi-user facilities and infrastructure are available at each Florida spaceport that can be utilized by a wide array of space-industry companies. Control centers, engine test stands, and other elements required for testing related to launch and landing activities would be standardized so that numerous companies could benefit from the facilities.
Space Coast Innovation Park (SCIP)
Currently, Exploration Spaceport at Space Coast Regional Airport is anticipating a variety of new development. More than likely, the first of these projects to break ground will be Space Coast Innovation Park (or SCIP). Located on the west side of the spaceport territory, this four-phased development will include approximately 1.1 million square feet of mixed-use space in its initial phase. In aerospace, the term mixed-use development takes on a rather different meaning and, in this case, the facilities that are constructed will have the potential to be utilized for manufacturing, industrial activities, transportation and distribution, warehousing and storage, research and development, clean rooms, satellite processing, and more. The possibilities are virtually endless.
321 Launch
Presently based in Merritt Island, 321 Launch is advancing toward breaking ground and having their facility constructed. The company specializes in the processing of payloads for their journey to space for a variety of clients.
Operator Solutions
Located at Melbourne-Orlando International Airport, Operator Solutions will be relocating to Exploration Spaceport at Space Coast Regional Airport in the near future. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is being reviewed and will be presented to the TICO Airport Authority Board at an upcoming meeting. The organization offers a search-and-rescue solution to the commercial spaceflight industry and private sectors. Operator Solutions combines the most highly trained search-and-rescue specialists from the Department of Defense with medical doctors, human spaceflight experts, and capable aircrews to deliver outstanding rescue services.
Alliance Capital
Because of a critical need for hangar space throughout the entire aerospace and aviation industries, Alliance Capital Management is working toward the development of corporate hangars within the spaceport territory at Space Coast Regional Airport. These facilities will offer custom floorplans and layouts for corporate flights, aerospace and defense special missions, and commercial space-industry aircraft flight operations and will also be able to accommodate narrow-body commercial aircraft and all large cabin corporate jets.
